Its mid-summer, the weather is perfect, and the clouds have all but disappeared from the sky. You’ve slept in for long enough on Saturday Morning, and it’s time for a nice day out at the pool.

When you get to the pool, towel in hand, everything seems perfect. Then you look down and a cloudy, murky mess appears before you.

What could this be? How can you fix it?

Luckily you’ve come to the right place for all your pool maintenance needs. Today we will tell you everything you need to know about how to fix cloudy pool water.

Why Is Your Pool Cloudy?

Pools get cloudy for various reasons, but usually, it is a pool chemistry problem. Check your filtration system and scan for any issues or build up. If the filtration system is not working perfectly, the contaminants in the pool may accumulate and change the chemistry of the water, causing cloudiness.

Sometimes the environment may be a factor that leads to cloudy pool water. Anything really can alter the chemistry of the pool, from bodily oils to other objects from the environment. Added water, in particular, can affect the chemistry of a pool and lead to cloudiness.

How To Fix Cloudy Pool Water?

The simplest way to clean a pool of cloudy water is to use a clarifier. This acts as an adhesive to the particles which cause the cloudiness, giving more mass to allow the filter system to hold on to.

Flocculant is the best version of this, adding weight to the particles and forcing them to the bottom of the pool. However, these will require manual removal.

Once you have chosen which path you want to go down, be sure to get the water circulating again. After you’re finished, your pool should be looking clearer than the beaches of the Bahamas.
