Fall is finally here, bringing with it those crisp, cool nights we have all been anxiously waiting for. There’s something about that first chilly night that just makes you want to take a dip into a warm heated pool.
However, that feeling goes away quickly once we get the next month’s electric bill. Heating a pool can be quite a costly affair, after all. Luckily, there are several methods to cut those costs so you can get back to enjoying your pool without any stress.
Here are the four methods we liked best for getting a heated pool:
- Solar Covers: This is one of the most cost-effective methods to heat your pool. These covers impede the process of evaporation, keeping the midday warmth in. In essence, it serves as a protective lid for your pool while improving heat retention and reducing evaporation.
- Solar Rings: Much the same as the above solar cover, rings are a smaller, easier alternative to the cover. They are connectable circles or rings that simply float on the surface. Opt for ones with magnets as it helps keep them better connected.
- Liquid Solar Covers: Again, a product that creates a barrier that reduces evaporation. A lightweight solar shield that is invisible to the human eye, this is a thin, eco-safe and non-toxic chemical barrier which reduces heat loss.
- Windproof Pool Enclosure: This limits the amount of wind that gets to the surface of the pool. While very effective, it’s more of a permanent solution than temporary. The only negative to this method is the visible enclosure that is built around the pool area.
There are several other options that are just as good, if not better, but would come with a bigger price tag. If that is not an issue, check into installing a pool heat pump. Using a pool heat pump along with a solar heater can actually maximize the heat in your pool.
There are options so you don’t freeze this winter and your bills aren’t skyhigh. Either way, though, you’ll have to decide on a direction to go in, so check with the professionals at Artesian Pools, today, to see what they recommend.
